Notice for individuals and companies certified by UK bodies who carry out work outside of the UK.

If the UK leaves the EU without a deal,  F-Gas certificates for individuals and companies awarded by a certification body in the UK will no longer be recognised within the remaining EU member states.  

Note for Irish Nationals and Irish companies. If you want to remain certified after a no deal Brexit, you must take action before 11.00pm on 31 October 2019.  IF you dont do this in time, you will need to be recertified by a certification body within the EU-27 such as the Irish certification body F-Gas Registration Ltd (companies) or QQI (individuals) and may be required to undertake further training.

Note: the UK Government has confirmed that when the UK leaves the EU, many of the rules for F gases will not change for those working in the UK, including requirements for:

  • the individual qualifications and company certifications you need to install, service, maintain, repair, decommission or check for leaks in certain equipment or the recover F gas
  • the content and requirements of training and certification programmes
  • the validity of existing certificates and training attestations, including those issued by EU member states both before and after the UK leaves the EU
