F Gas Training and Certification decisions awaited - 14/12/2007
The European Commission meets on 17th December to finalse requirements regarding training and certification under the F Gas Regulation. These requirements will include:
- Specification for a top-up qualification to cover additional skills based on the existing legally mandatory refrigeration handling qualifications C&G2078 and CITB equivalent.
- Interim arrangements to allow countries additional time where necessary for personnel to gain these top up qualifications.
- Company registration arrangements.
A response from the Commission is expected early in January 2008. In the mean time City and Guilds and CITB as existing certifying bodies are working together with ACRIB and DEFRA on the outline development of the top-up qualification which will be available some time next year.
